JOHNNY LEE SHEFFIELD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Johnny Lee Sheffield, a native of Sumter County, was an entrepreneur who loved his family and his community. His giving spirit and servant’s heart have led his family to honor his legacy by giving back to the community that he loved through the establishment of a scholarship fund for students from Sumter County. In conjunction with Living Word Church of Livingston, Alabama, this scholarship is being made available to assist dedicated students in reaching their God-given goals of Experiencing the LIFE that God created them to have.

Scholarship Requirements:

  • Student should be from Sumter County
  • At least a 3.0 GPA
  • We would like to award $1,000 each to one male and one female high school senior
  • Must be accepted to any accredited community college or 4-yr institution within the state of Alabama

LWC REACH SCHOLARSHIP

In 2018, God gave a mandate to Pastor Byron P. Franklin, Sr. that the focus of Living Word Church would be REACH. This directive has three aspects, which include REACH UP (developing our relationship with God), REACH IN (discovering our unique God-given design and gifts), and REACH OUT (using our gifts to REACH outside of the church walls to bring out positive change and win our community and our world to Christ. As a part of this effort, we are introducing the REACH scholarship, a $500 scholarship that will be rewarded to one (1) high school senior living in either Sumter, Marengo or Greene County. PLEASE NOTE: Preference will be given to current and former qualifying Living Word Church members; however, should no applications be received from LWC seniors, the scholarship will be awarded to any qualifying high school senior or currently enrolled college student.

Scholarship Requirements:

  • Student should be from Sumter, Marengo or Greene County
  • At least a 3.0 GPA
  • Award is $500 to one high school senior or current college student

Must be accepted to any accredited community college or 4-yr institution.
